How a Pune gardening service gets 5–10 leads a day from local search

The business and the problem
Pune Greens is a local gardening and landscaping service. Its customers are homeowners, housing societies and offices who need someone to design, plant or maintain a garden, usually within a few kilometres of where they live.
Before the project, almost all of its work came from word of mouth. It had no website at all, so there was nothing for Google to show beyond a basic listing. When someone searched for a gardener nearby, competitors and directory listings showed up instead.
On paper, local SEO did not look worth it. The main keyword showed roughly 50 searches a month in Semrush. Most agencies would have looked at that number and moved on.
What we did, step by step
WEEK 1
A brand-new website, built for local search
Its first website: a fast, mobile-first site with a page for each main service and the areas served, a click-to-call and WhatsApp button on every page, and LocalBusiness schema.
MONTH 1
Google Business Profile, rebuilt
The right primary and secondary categories, every service listed, real photos of finished gardens, accurate hours and a clear service area.
MONTHS 2–3
Listings and reviews
Consistent name, address and phone across Justdial, Sulekha and other directories, and a simple WhatsApp message asking happy customers for a review.
MONTH 3 ONWARDS
The monthly checklist
Regular profile posts, new photos, page updates based on Search Console queries, and steady review requests. The same checklist every client gets today.
THE KEY INSIGHT
Why 50 searches a month turned into 5–10 leads a day
Keyword tools measure one exact phrase. Real customers type hundreds of variations: the service plus their area, “near me”, a specific task like lawn maintenance or terrace garden design, and sometimes Hindi or Marathi phrasing.
Each variation gets only a handful of searches, so tools ignore them. Added together, they are where most of the leads come from. Good area and service pages, plus a strong Google profile, let one site rank for all of them at once.
This is the same approach we use for Mumbai businesses, and the reason we judge success by enquiries, not keyword positions. Read more in real timelines from three Pune sites.
| Query | Type |
|---|---|
| gardener near me | Near me |
| garden maintenance baner | Area |
| terrace garden design pune | Service |
| lawn grass installation wakad | Service + area |
| mali service pune | Hindi / Marathi |
| society garden maintenance contract | Buyer type |
THE RESULTS
What changed for the business
FOR MUMBAI BUSINESSES
Three lessons that apply to your business
Mumbai is denser and more competitive than Pune, but the same three ideas decide who gets the call.
- 01
Don’t trust low keyword volumes
If tools show 50 searches for your service in Andheri, the real number across all the ways people search is likely many times higher.
- 02
One page per service and area
A separate, genuinely useful page for each main service and area lets you rank for the variations customers actually type.
- 03
Judge by enquiries, not rankings
A position report means little on its own. Calls, WhatsApp messages and direction requests show whether SEO is working.
